Adding fall bulbs for spring color. This is an idea that I toss around whenever autumn rolls around. Currently, I am in the process of redoing the flower beds in my front yard. I had three large bushes succumb to scaling. I had thought originally that I had an infestation of aphids. Some of my surrounding plants had evidence of these pesky little bugs. I applied Garden Safe to my infected plants, which took care of most of the problem. The aphids were gone but the little white bugs were not. I tried pruning back the most infected branches, then I sprayed Spectracide thinking it would take care of the problem. Long story short? The bushes died and had to be replaced. In the process, I ended up digging up most of my bulbs. I figured it was as good a time as any. It was something that I wanted to do anyway.
So now I am ready to browse what kind of bulbs I want to put in my flower beds. Beginning of October is prime time to shop and select bulbs. They can be purchased at your neighborhood garden center or online. I found bloomingbulb.com and considering ordering my bulbs online. This is something I have not done before as I usually like to visually inspect my plants prior to purchase.
I am really impressed by their selection and variety. I have picked a bunch!
